Dr. Brian Potts, PsyD, BCIA earned both a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and a masters degree in marriage and family therapy. Dr. Potts specializes in therapeutic methods for trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship counseling, and substance abuse. In addition to helping treat the community, he also volunteers as a SWAT psychologist for Las Vegas Metro and provides monthly training's for Las Vegas Metro Police Department on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. He is also trained in both biofeedback and alpha stimulation as adjunctive treatment modalities with cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I have 23 years experience working with clients facing challenging situations which aren’t easily going to go away: grief, trauma, anxiety, parents & loved ones of those w/ mental illness or addiction, teens in transition, caregivers of aging parents or disabled kids, and those dealing with dramatic life shifts. Over the past 25 years of practice, I have worked with people to develop self-understanding so that they feel a greater sense of purpose and meaning. I am a small in-home practice and work primarily with couples, individuals, adolescents and teens. Depending on your needs, which will be determined during the phone consultation, I offer a combination of traditional talk therapy with alternative treatments. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health with an emphasis on the mind, body, and spirit, to achieve exciting, meaningful, and sustainable results. My current clients have been with me for several years and I welcome the opportunity to establish more therapeutic relationships if you are willing to take the journey. Life has a way to challenge us. We all struggle with different elements of life. Ironically the blessing is that we feel pain. Sometimes more than we want and at times not enough to change. This pain causes people to seek comfort externally, in food, drugs, relationships etc. This pain may be perceived as a result of someone else, or something external and it is normally handled by coping. But, there is a way past coping, a way to learn what this pain is telling you about yourself. There's a way to perceive pain as a friend and embrace the lessons it teaches us about who we are. PERSONAL GROWTH liberates and it's within us.

As a clinical psychologist my clinical interests have evolved during my years of experiences and research with delinquent youth; conflicted family systems; and underserved low-income, geriatric, and at-risk populations. These experiences have increased my familiarity with children, adolescents and adults from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic backgrounds and sexual orientation. I bring my unyielding groundedness to my higher self, innate empathy, compassion, genuine concern, and profound connectedness to the environment and people. I am able to connect with individuals on a very deep level. I believe in the holistic healing.

Dr. Scott is committed to facilitating the healing, recovery and integration of motivated, proactive clients who are interested in approaching their behavioral health from an eclectic and multi-disciplinary approach. He uses many traditional and non-traditional techniques that are described below. His commitment is to start where the client is and assist them in the process of self-discovery, mastery and holistic wellness. Sessions are from 45 minutes to 5 hours and treatment plans are specifically customized to each individual and family. Typical treatment duration lasts from a few sessions to several years.

I believe a therapist should have a plan of action that works with a wide range of clients without making personal judgments. The plan should embrace your way of thinking, your goals, and your morality. That's the kind of therapist I would be for you.
