I also have a strong interest in childhood sleep disturbances and enjoy working with parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers to address sleep problems.
As a parent and as a therapist for young children, I wholeheartedly understand the various difficulties of raising children, as well as the great joys of parenthood. I view therapy with young children as a means to discover underlying issues that could be impacting a child's current emotional or behavioral presentation and working with the parents and child as a team in addressing those issues. I have a warm, inviting and causal style of interacting with families that helps them feel less anxiety about participating in the therapeutic process.

I believe that everyone deserves to sleep well, feel good, and be in a loving and healthy romantic relationship.
I'm a therapist with 10+ years of full-time psychotherapy experience. In my work with clients, I offer an environment of care, compassion, humility, and human understanding. Despite its beauty, the human experience is laden with struggles, challenges, and complexities. Often these issues are worth or necessitate exploring. Although I have extensive experience working with a wide range of concerns, I specialize in sleep, anxiety/depression, breakup/divorce recovery, dating, and complex trauma. I am currently pursuing intensive training in EMDR, a highly effective and rapid intervention for trauma and other painful memories.

A behavioral approach is well suited to clients with chronic medical conditions, such as pain, headaches, diabetes, heart failure, and cancer, as well as episodic problems, such as insomnia.
As a health psychologist, I work with clients who have physical and emotional conditions that are getting in the way of being able to live the lives they want. I help clients identify and follow through on changes they can make to improve their well-being. I use a behavioral approach supplemented with biofeedback and hypnosis. I also work with couples who are struggling to find ways to get closer together and feel like they are truly partners in their relationship. The key to my approach is to find effective ways to get what you want from your life.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) taps into your own brain's natural mechanism for healing during sleep.
I believe in every person's ability to learn positive belief systems that will promote growth and spiritual balance. My niche is working with clients who feel stuck in their life and do not always have a defined negative experience to explain why they are feeling stuck. Often times it is hard to identify a single memory that solidifies a negative belief system about oneself. "This is just who I am," I will hear, but everyone has the potential to move their life forward.

If you struggle with anxiety or depression you may have found that the day to day can feel overwhelming. You may have noticed that your sleep is being impacted, patience with others is lessening, staying focused or organized is becoming harder, or you may generally feel tired or restless. Are your thoughts taking over or do you do everything to avoid your thoughts? Maybe you are in a relationship and find communication difficult with arguments that lead into the early morning hours or saying things to hurt one another? Are you reaching out because what you have tried on your own is not providing the change you are seeking?

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
What is a Sleep Disorder or Insomnia?

Almost everyone goes through bouts of sleeplessness in Chicago from time to time. Chronic insomnia, however, is marked by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, or waking up too early. If it takes you thirty minutes or more to fall asleep, or you're awake for thirty minutes or more during the night at least three times a week-for a month or more-you're likely suffering from insomnia.

Insomnia has major effects on mood as well as alertness. It is also a classic symptom of depression.

The most effective treatments for chronic insomnia are behavioral techniques that eliminate sleep anxiety and allow the body's own sleep cycle to kick in. It may require as little as doing nothing. But Sleep specialists in Chicago or therapists who specialize in sleep in Chicago, or simply a Chicago sleep therapist, can help. Likewise, insomnia specialists in Chicago or therapists who specialize in insomnia in Chicago, or simply a Chicago insomnia therapist, can help.

Sleep disorders may include sleep apnea, narcolepsy or simply chronic snoring.
