As a naturopathic doctor, I offer a holistic approach to mental health. I work with patients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue, difficulty with concentration and poor memory. Often these symptoms are hand in hand with gastrointestinal issues, headaches, irregular or painful menses, infertility and other hormonal imbalances. By treating the whole person I can get to the root cause of the symptoms, looking at genetic, dietary/lifestyle, and other factors that might be contributing. I do not offer mental health counseling, however I work closely with several therapists to offer collaborative care.

Hypnosis creates a natural bridge between mind and body, and it's a proven method for relieving pain, improving sleep, releasing anxiety, and replacing self-sabotage with new choices. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention creating a heightened openness and awareness. This state allows the mind to gently access deep creative resources, and in clinical hypnosis, we can then apply these resources to your goals for change.

UPDATE: I’m here to help with Covid-19-related grief, stress, fears, uncertainty, reduced self care, work ineffectiveness, isolation, home-schooling & cooped-up family challenges. While in normal times my practice focus is helping adults & older teens with ADHD lead more effective and satisfying lives, I’m also experienced in treating mood disorders including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, PTSD and depression, and sleep issues. I understand that all these issues, including ADHD, are worsened and even harder to manage when life is suddenly so completely uncertain, scary and stressful. You don’t have to manage this by yourself!

I’m currently offering the option of telehealth (video chat instead of in-person therapy). I do a type of therapy called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. This approach is practical and focused on the present. It involves learning new skills and behaviors. If you are seeking help with anxiety, treatment will probably involve a technique called exposure that has been shown to help people with anxiety problems. If you are seeking help with depression, stress, insomnia, or managing chronic physical health problems, treatment will focus on helping you to gradually implement lifestyle changes that improve your physical and mental well being.

Experiencing challenges and distress is an inherent aspect of life, as is our ability to access the resources and strengths to meet these challenges. We have developed patterned ways of being and thinking that may not serve us the way they used to resulting in anxiety, restlessness, depression, withdrawal, sleep disruption, relational conflict, loss of interest in life, or dissatisfaction with work to name a few. I view therapy as a hopeful process of self-discovery and meaning-making that leads to lasting changes including improved mental and emotional well-being and behavior change. I offer individual therapy for adults and teens.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
What is a Sleep Disorder or Insomnia?

Almost everyone goes through bouts of sleeplessness in Seattle from time to time. Chronic insomnia, however, is marked by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, or waking up too early. If it takes you thirty minutes or more to fall asleep, or you're awake for thirty minutes or more during the night at least three times a week-for a month or more-you're likely suffering from insomnia.

Insomnia has major effects on mood as well as alertness. It is also a classic symptom of depression.

The most effective treatments for chronic insomnia are behavioral techniques that eliminate sleep anxiety and allow the body's own sleep cycle to kick in. It may require as little as doing nothing. But Sleep specialists in Seattle or therapists who specialize in sleep in Seattle, or simply a Seattle sleep therapist, can help. Likewise, insomnia specialists in Seattle or therapists who specialize in insomnia in Seattle, or simply a Seattle insomnia therapist, can help.

Sleep disorders may include sleep apnea, narcolepsy or simply chronic snoring.
